I am one of those people who grew up with an intense fear and mistrust of dentists or anyone who resembled a dentist. My mother had to drag me, kicking and screaming, into the dental office when it was time for my visits. As the years passed, and what seemed like endless trips to dentists, dental specialists and then suffering with braces in my late 30's, I never overcame my intense dislike of having to go to a dental practitioner until I found my way to the very capable hands of Dr. Abdy Moshrefi and his lovely staff at M.D. PERIODONTICS. To those of you who have ever feared and loathed the idea of a dental visit, I have discovered the ""Dr. Oz"" of Periodontics. Oprah, unfortunately, doesn't know about him yet, but I do . . . and, I am here to inform you that Dr. Moshrefi is the kindest, most thoughtful and talented Periodontist one could ever hope for.\r \r As you might imagine, it was with great trepidation that I ventured forth for my first visit with him, somehow anticipating that he would be like all of the others I had dealt with through the years. But, my fears and concerns were immediately dispelled after my first consultation and subsequent treatment. I foolishly should have known what a wonderful doctor he would be after I learned of his superlative scholastic background - Phi Beta Kappa in Biology from UCLA and Summa Cum Laude from USC Dental School. But, in addition to his scholastic excellence, this man's skills are masterfull! He is also kind-hearted and demonstrated a deep-felt concern for my well being. Such qualities, all to be found in one person, are rare indeed! So, for those of you who are searching for the perfect doctor to attend to your needs, LOOK NO FURTHER . . . I FOUND HIM FOR YOU! Getting work on my teeth is not my favorite thing to do, but my experience of MD Periodontics and Dr. Abdy Moshrefi put me at ease from the moment I walked in. I was greeted very cordially by his receptionist Lori Campbell. I only waited a few minutes and was then escorted into a waiting room and the doctor came in within moments of getting into the examining chair. He took some x-rays which were shown on the screen instantly and I really got how knowledgable Dr Moshrefi is when he explained the procedure I needed in terms that I could understand. I needed an extraction of a tooth and a implant. He numbed the area and was able to extract the tooth completely without any pieces left and I felt no pain. I got a subscription for pain pills and a anti-biotics. I went home that afternoon and what was remarkable to me is he called me at home later that evening to check and see how I was doing. It has been 10 days since the extraction, (I had no pain or discomfort) I went back for a follow-up and was informed everything is fine and in 8 weeks I will be able to have a successful implant and subsequent crown. My dentist referred me to Dr. Moshrefi for a dental implant. I lost my front tooth a long time ago in a playground incident and as a result didn’t have enough bone mass for an implant. Dr. Moshrefi consulted with me about a bone graphing procedure that would allow him to place a standard-sized implant for my front tooth. I had two procedures, the bone graph and the implant, and both were a great success.\r Dr. Moshrefi was patient and thorough in explaining each procedure. He always made sure all my questions were answered and made himself available if I had any follow up questions. I never waited for an appointment and Laurie was great in helping me schedule (and reschedule) my appointments. After each procedure, Dr. Moshrefi personally called me at home to make sure everything was alright (how many doctors do that??).
