I dropped off a very expensive silk dress at The Sewing Basket to be sent to Greers for dry-cleaning. When I returned to pick it up, I paid for the dry-cleaning and then checked it to see if the deodorant had come off. To my shock, the area where the deodorant had been was now completely shredded. Worn once, the dress was now unwearable. I was offered no apology, and only told that they would check with Greers and that someone would call me. A week later I stopped back to check and the dress was missing. I was told that they would have Greers get it back for me with an explanation. A month later, still no call from Greers or The Sewing Basket. Finally I've checked and have been told that it's back, but that neither business will take responsibility for it. Attached to the dress was a picture printed from the internet warning of the dangers of dry-cleaning chemicals and deodorant. I would have thought that if they suspected that dry-cleaning could damage the dress, they would have refused to treat it. Apparently they thought that the shredded look was better than the deodorant stains. More insulting still was that I actually paid for them to hand me back a destroyed dress. I basically got a shoulder shrug from both of these business. A little sincerety and an apology would have gone a long way. I won't do business with Greers, or The Sewing Basket again, and hope that others read the reviews. Had I read the reviews first, I would have gone elsewhere.
