First, I do not know why this place is packed sometimes. There are not enough people working. You have to show up and put your name on a list. Then they will call your name. The food is okay, not the best I ever had. Decent at best. The sevice here is very flaky. If you want anything, you better ask for it from the begining. The kitchen is poorly organized. I had 5 people at my table and we each got our food at different times in 10 minute increments. My sister who does not like calarmari ask them not to give it to her, when her dished arrived, it had plenty of it. The udon noodles were sour. The chicken katmatzu was dry as chalk. I could forgive flaky service but not nasty food. It took about 20 minutes to get our bill when we wanted it. The food is inconsistant. Horrible dining experience. I don't know why some people will wait an hour or more just to eat and endure terrible food and service. Maybe these are people who always tip 15% no matter how rude the waiter/waitress treats them. There are better sushi places in the Bay Area. *AVOID AT ALL COSTS*
