Au Coquelet on University Avenue in Berkeley has outstanding breakfasts and desserts. They also offer a nice sandwich selection, so if you have a fussy guest with you, they would most likely find something on the menu to appease their taste.
Whether you want a quick bite, or want to cram in a late night study session, Au Coquelet will cater to your every need. They are open pretty early in the morning to pretty late at night, to accompany the UC Berkeley crowd.
They have a front cafe area for the quick meals, or you can choose to sit in the back restaurant area for a nice meal or study session. The table and chairs are comfy, and the wait staff do not rush you at all, you could be there all day and they don't bother you.
