Review content:
just off University Ave, once you go into this pub you feel like you are no longer in Palo Alto (in a good way). the food is great - the fish and chips have been called the best in the bay area, and there is no reason to disagree that i know of. the place is small, with dark wooden walls and dart boards, more of a grad student crowd than anything else, but lots of regulars. there is a small outside area where people are often smoking. they have comedy on monday nights which is actually quite good and trivia night on tuesdays, which has been dubbed the toughest trivia night in the country with the only possible exceptions of new haven or cambridge. but there is plently of great beer to drink as you fall in defeat to a team of stanford archeology grad students.
