We used to love going to Barnacles, but haven't been in a couple years since we moved to TX. We were in for a visit this past week, and we not impressed! The place was almost completely deserted - but, this was not what really turned us off. After we spent over a $100 on food, beverages, games, etc..., we were eating, playing a game of pool, and enjoying the company of our friends in a back corner of the joint when we were very matter of factly, without any explanation, asked to leave at 12:35 pm. Everyone with us knew the place has always closed at 1:00, so we asked to see the manager. The manager came over yelling "who said we closed at 1:00? - I'm the manager and we're closing in 10 minutes, so wrap it up and get out". We explained that we were there from out of town, and asked if we could play one more game and finish our food/beer. After he again told us to finish the game and "get out", we responded with a very calm "yes sir, have a nice night, we won't ever be back". The manager then turned to us, pointed to the door and told us to "forget about the game, get the F*** out now!" The bouncer then proceded to escort us out and stand guard at the door until we drove away, all the while making rude and unnecessary statements. We were treated like we were out of hand loiterers when we were the complete opposite. If business was so bad that they needed to close 15 minutes early, they could have gone about asking us to leave in a hundred nicer ways. I now know why the place was so empty! Pros: Good food, cheap booze, lot's of pool tables and TV's Cons: Rude and unprofessional manager/staff, empty
