I've been with Robbert since last November--the 24th to be exact--I know because it was exactly one day before the third anniversary before my husband's tragic death. Robbert is the greatest. You got a true gem, who is not only passionate, but just really good at what he does, which is make people feel great about the way they look and have fun while they sit in that chair. Since Dean does not tell people when there is a change in hairdresser, I was stuck with yet another hairdresser before mentioned in other reviews, Jamie, only like 20ish, fresh out of beauty school, but supposedly she's done hair for 15 years. She thought it fit to make me a Marine out of boot camp with a high and tight (that's like a buzz cut a la G.I. Jane), although it was not buzzed and she cut holes into my hair. That was 6 weeks ago. When I got my hair done today, Robbert got me right back on track where I like to be, the color looks gorgeous like a Twix bar with a glossy chocolate and caramel in the front :), and the cut is getting back to normal. OK, so Robbert can't make hair appear in a second and grow an inch, but he will get hair back on track. I have to say: Robbert looked happier than I've ever seen him before working at Uptown Spa. I honestly believe that if you give employees some form of ownership by letting their voices be heard in your business decisions, you create an abundance of joy and great passion for the business you're running. You are doing so at Uptown Spa, and I could see that. Even the receptionist, whom I know from Dean, but I don't know her name, looked a million times happier!!! You're lucky to have these guys; take great care of them, because I know I will be a return customer and tell everyone (did I mention that I have about 100 students every semester and work with lots of instructors and professors who comment on my hair all the time--great advertisement!!!!), where I get my gorgeous hair from. I might even treat myself to a spa treatment out of the ordinary, which is something I have not done in decades, because your spa looks very inviting, and the girl that showed me around was absolutely great! I even had customers commenting on how great my hair looked today; that has never happened to me at Dean or anywhere else. People do that only when they feel they get the same or they know they will get the same. Obviously, you're on the right track. I wish my hair was an inch longer, but it wasn't today to start with; at least I can now do things with my hair that I couldn't do before and it is really cute. The cut and color 6 weeks ago (which, did I mention it enough? I got at Dean of Shadyside!!!) WAS awful. Today my color is absolutely radiant and flawless. I'm easy on the length; it'll grow to where it needs to be in a month, and it was nobody's fault at Uptown Spa :). This is the place to go for a great haircut and color in the Burgh. It's worth every penny and you get a serene and fun experience--actually you get the experience you're looking for no matter what. Let go of pretentious salons and have some fun with your hair, ladies!!! You only live once and you deserve the best! Pros: Robbert and all the staff, just EVERYTHING Cons: NONE
