Review content:
I own a 1997 F250 Powerstroke and I will never have Mike Naughton service my vehicle again! A few months ago, my truck started smoking excessively and I took it into Mike Naughton for service for the second time - first time, service and repair was marginal and I was willing to give them a second chance. Now, anyone who owns a diesel knows to plug them in on cold nights to keep the engine somewhat warm and thus easier to start in the morning, otherwise it is possible to foul glow plugs and make it almost impossible to start. So, I DRIVE my F250 into Mike Naughton mid day in December for service and left it overnight - over night temps were 2 degrees below zero and my truck was left outside and unplugged. The tech went out to start my truck and bring it in for service and that is where the sh*t started. I receive a call from my "personal" service agent about noonish with a "I got bad news" report. I was told that my truck won't start, the batteries are shot, and the starter was bad - now remember, I drove this truck into Mike Naughton without any issues related to the batteries or the starter. When I asked how this happened, I was told the batteries were old and weak. I installed these 1100 CCA batteries 2.5 years ago and I even wired in a trickle charger to the block heater to ensure batteries are always charged. Next, I was told the starter was getting hot while cranking and was drawing too many amps - wonder why the starter was working so hard? I ask about the additional repair costs and was told I would need to pay an additional "ESTIMATED" $1400 just to have my original problem diagnosed. After the shock wore off and I explained how the situation was impossible, Mike Naughton service rep said there was nothing they could do and it wasn't their fault. I informed them that I want the truck running as I was coming in to get it. My "personal" service rep informed me that the batteries wouldn't hold a charge and I agreed to purchase new batteries which ended up costing me $500. I picked up the truck and drove to a reputable diesel repair shop for service (about 4 times farther form my house than Mike Naughton, but I would have easily driven 40 times further in order NOT to shop at Mike Naughton! After having an injector replaced, I was told there wasn't anything wrong with either the starter or the charging system. A caveat to this story is that I used to owned a 4WD accessories and fabrication shop and I know how to work on and repair diesels and I recognize shops ripping people off. I inform everyone one I know of Mike Naughton and I am posting to warn others now Cons: Performing uncessary repairs
