My husband and I are both professionals working in the city, who have lived here for two years, though we've lived in Manhattan for many more, and the management and staff in this building are one of the reasons we will be happy to move. To give you an example, when I was nine months pregnant, I had been in the hospital due to complications, so when I came home I was supposed to take it easy. The day I returned, I ordered food to be delivered, but the guard downstairs refused to allow the delivery man up. He called me and I explained my medical condition to ask if he could make an exception. He refused, so I was forced to go down six flights to pick up my dinner. When I asked the guard if there might be a way we could resolve this problem in the future, since I needed to stay off my feet in the remaining weeks before the baby's due date, he stared at me, then replied "well, you could learn how to cook." When I e-mailed management to explain both the problem and the guard's inappropriate behavior, they simply ignored the e-mail. We ended up hiring a baby nurse to help solve this particular problem, but still ran into many others. In short, they refused to allow the furniture cleaner's from Bloomingdales up to our apartment to fix the couch, because they didn't have the "right type of insurance," even though the insurance they did have worked for every other building. One of the guards threatened to call the cops on my husband because he was throwing away an old chair, and he thought he might be trying to "steal something." On this occasion, he followed him all the way from the plaza back up to our apartment to make sure he did in fact live here. Many other strange instances like this have made living here a constant chore. Now to top it off, they're keeping our security, even though they'd previously agreed to return it. Don't bother, trust me, any place else would be better.
