Review content:
Asena is somewhat of a newcomer to the Alameda dining scene. The restaurant is very small. It only has a maximum occupancy of about sixty people, I'm guessing. The atmosphere is somewhat fancy with table cloth, candles, etc. However, for being a somewhat upscale restaurant in Alameda, the prices are on the low side. Entrées are around $15.
The service at Asena is absolutely wonderful. The waiter we had, was a gentleman from Turkey, he was very friendly. All the other waiters at Asena seem to be jolly all the time--they must get paid well.
Appetizers are about six dollars. They offered calamari and crab cakes and several dips.
Entrées are in the $15 range. I also believe that entrées come with a choice of soup or salad. I ordered the paella, I thought it was good but not worth raving about.
Parking at Asena can be tricky since patrons have to park on the streets. I would recommend making reservations-as Asena is small and crowded. At Asena I believe you can get away with out spending $20 a person, for a great meal in a nice atmosphere.
