Review content:
While live music is still a draw for a supposed Richmond landmark bar, the level of professionalism among staffers is extremely low. Locals, other restaurants' wait staff and anybody who is recognized are not charged a cover when live bands play. They fully admit to this, and do not make any apologies for letting 3/4 of the crowd in for free. Poe's is not a serious live music establishment in the Richmond music biz anymore - they are just as happy having they stereo play oldies. They don't help promote shows (outdated website), and then give quite a bit of attitude when you question a $100 paycheck with a full restaurant at the end of the evening. Richmond bands take note - they treat you like they are doing you a huge favor....
Pros: Casual, inexpensive, dark
Cons: Bands not treated well
