My neighbor had his water heater changed out last month and I knew that I would need to do mine soon. I walked over to his unit and checked it out. Now, I am no plumber, but it looked like crap. He said he only paid $150 for a handyman to throw it in and be bought the tank at Home Depot. I decided to go to HD and have them do it.
They contract with Fast Water Heater and I was impressed with guys from the first phone call. The rep on the phone was friendly and knowledgeable. They had a guy to my house that same day.
Now, I know that I paid 2x as much as my neighbor, but I can say they did a great job. The tank is strapped to the wall, the pipes are insulated and the tank is an Energy Star tank. I think I am doing my part to be "green."
You get what you pay for. If you want a crappy looking job and are cheap, call a handyman. If you want it done right, give these guys a call.
