i come to jo-ann's primarily for yarn. they have regular sales here on common brands of yarn - lions, red heart, bernat, etc. it is great to stock up on yarn when they have their sales. the selection is bigger than michael's and often cheaper. the only critic is that they don't have specialty yarns like lace or fingering weight or silk \ cashmere blends. for those yarns, you gotta hit up the specialty yarn stores which are very expensive :(
