Labor Day weekend was a memory I will never forget. My dog was not acting herself and I knew something was wrong. I could not take her to our normal Vet, so I was directed to FVS for after hour care. My dog was not eating and I was told they wanted to hold her over-night and give her fluid treatment. After paying for everything up front, I went home back to my wife and kids. I spent 10 years as a SAR trainer and handler with my search and rescue dog and I can count on one hand how many times we were apart during her life. That night I got the dreaded phone call, she had fluid in her lungs and wasn't going to make it. I rushed back to FVS to be with her. When I got there she was struggling to breathe and could barely move. As I held her, she managed to pick up one of her toys and hand it to me. Since she was a puppy, It was her way of saying I love you dad. The staff at FVS refused to let us have our final moments together until the new bill was payed. I had to leave the room to pay the bill before they would end her suffering. When I got back to the room the doctor already gave her the shot and I barely had time to say my goodbye. They showed me their true color was green. To this day, I have never felt a colder experience than my visit to FVS.
