Review content:
Well, having enjoyed Hawaiian food IN Hawaii, I was eager to check this place out. I headed over with a coworker who actually grew up EATING "real" hawaiian food, as his folks lived in Hawaii before moving to California andthat is what his ma cooks!
I got chicken with japanese bread crumbs, regular and fried rice and a soda, and HE got a "chili dog" supposedly prepared in true hawaiian style.
Well, It MIGHT have been "true hawaiian style" but if so, he ain't liking it! Was hugely salty, like the chili was from the bottom of a big can, and took him hours to get the bad taste out of his mouth.
However, my chicken was great! As was the rice. So, it looks more hit / miss than all bad or good!
We did run into something similar at Dark Horse once upon a time.. their "atomic" chicken sandwich not only had SO MUCH French (or generic) hot sauce on it, but the sauce that WAS on it was old and or bottom of the barrel salty, made us both gag and avoid the place and it made us go "erg" and have one of those "dont' make me eat nasty food" shivers go up our spines.
so I won't be going back with the buddy for a long long time until his negative hot dog experience fades.
