Hello.
My name is Marie Knight. On December 22, 2006, my ex husband was at a Christmas party at his mom's home in Eddyville, Kentucky. At around 10:14 PM, he left the party for a ride without a helmet and crashed his Harley into a tree and broke his neck, and we lost him. I can't believe that his family let him leave knowing he had been drinking and without a helmet.
He was a great man. He was the type of dad that men wear shirts about 'World's Greatest Dad.'
My daughter, Hannah Louise Knight is only 6 years old. I am her only living parent now.
I have a court order giving me custody of her, and her grandmother won't let me have her.
Although this is probably common, the uncommon story to this, is that there is a town that is refusing to assist me.
A sheriff there has told me that social services had my child and gave the grandmother temporary custody. I found out that indeed Social Services, did not. I was then told there was a hearing set for January 16, but could not get anymore information. It seems this town is protecting the grandmother, and I can't get anyone to assist me in getting my little girl. She is only 6, and they won't let me talk to her, non the less hold her as she needs me right now. There is no restraining order, yet the sheriff told me not to go there.
I was told by the court that I was given a court appointed attorney, for which reason, I have no idea, and they told me this was confidential information. I called the attorney they gave me, Bill Young, and of course, he had no idea of the case but said he had to withdrawal because he was close to the family.
Everyone in this small town of Eddyville, Lyon County is close to this family, and I can't locate my little girl.
I have a court order that I have custody of her, and they won't assist me.
The paternal grandfather is Judge/Executive of this joining county and it seems for this reason, this town is protecting the family.
I need some assistance please.
A town can't make and chose the law they want to uphold and this is the case.
My little girl hasn't spoken to me since Christmas afternoon, only to say, "Mommy, daddy can't take me to see you today." I said, "I know honey, but it will be okay, Mommy promises. We both love daddy, and it will be okay." She then stated, "Well at least I still have a Mommy, I still have one parent." I reassured her she did indeed.
This is now, January 5, and I still can't get to her because of this town. What is my poor child thinking, wondering where is her Mom and she just buried her dad Christmas Eve?
