Review content:
I went into the Hope food bank earlier this year to see if I could get a little help for my family. As I entered there was a perky lady at her desk who welcomed me warmly. She asked how she could help me I told her that I hadn't done this before and wasn't sure what I had to do. About that time a man came around the corner from the back of the building. He already had a carriage filled with a box of food, a six pack of water, two boxes of cereal and a bag of frozen food. I later found that the bag had chicken, a twin pack of steaks, a pound of hamburger, a pack of hot dogs, breakfast sausage, lunch meat and four mini loves of frozen bread dough.
The lady took me through the application process with such ease and compassion and assured me that I had nothing to be ashamed of and this type of thing happens to many people and assured me that with God's help I would be back to work soon. The gentleman, I later found to be her husband, told me that they had a need to get food from the same place a number of years earlier. I found this experience to be one of the most pleasant I could remember. Even though I had just lost my job and I was a father with two little girls, they gave me hope that I needed. Later that day I thought about some of the things they had told me and it encouraged me to stop and pray. The next day I went to a job interview in Nashville, I didn't hear back from them until the fallowing week but I did get the position for which I applied. I am currently living in Dallas, Texas making about $9,000.00 more than I was making with my previous position. I even went to church later that week for the first time in months. I am back in church full time here in Dallas and so are my wife and kids. If I ever get back to Tennessee I will stop in the Hope food Bank and tell them how much they encouraged me and helped me in my time of need. Last but not least. This was a couple that was about 10-15 years older than me and were a great example of what God wants all to do. sadly I am terrible with names and I can't remember theirs but God knows what they do. They did mention that they were missionaries. Praise God for missionaries that stick it out and do as God asks them to do. I don't know where I'd be today if not for them.
