I am excited to be reviewing Small Steps Preschool. My son has attended his first year and will be going again this year. His sister will also attend. They have a two day a week program for kids 3-4 years, and a three day program for 4-5 years. From the first contact with Ann at Small Steps, I knew this was the right place for us. I wanted a pre-school that wasn't also a daycare. I wanted one that would let my son learn in his own way and provide the peer interaction that he needed. What I found was that and more. Each of the teachers really get to know the kids. The program is well organized. It is structured enough that both the kids and the parents know what is going on and the kids learn a lot. It is also flexible enough, though, to cater to different learning styles and personalities. There are several field trips and opportunities for parent involvement throughout the year. They have conferences a couple of times per year and are available for any concerns or comments at any time. It is more expensive than the preschool through the high school, but I think the price is about standard for that kind of program. It is worth every penny. My son has really come out of his shell in his interactions with people, and he has learned a great deal(though they don't push the academics as much in the first year.) Most importantly, he loves school. I think this is the best start he can have. I want him to be excited about school from the start and this has already been accomplished. I definitely recommend Small Steps.
