I tried this place for the first time last night and was somewhat disappointed. It is within easy walking distance of where I live, so I was excited at the possibility of having a good place to eat so near by.
I love the atmosphere -- whoever they hired to do their interior decorating did a good job, and the place is inviting and was very busy while I was there (around 6pm).
The food, however, was another story.
My boyfriend and I ordered the caesar salad, which consisted of large leaves of romaine lettuce on a plate that barely contained them (meaning you attempt to cut them into bite size pieces and half the salad slides off your plate onto the table) and was served with a bland, very garlicky caesar dressing. Caesar salad is something every restaurant should be able to do right, but this was not a good salad -- I liked the croûtons the best.
I also had a hamburger, which I always expect to be a safe bet at a place such as this -- but it was another miss. The bun was huge and too much bread for the size of everything else. The meat was unseasoned, the cheese average, and it was all accompanied by a small leaf of lettuce and one slice of tomato. The fries that came with were the best thing on the plate, I thought.
I left feeling full but not satisfied after spending upwards of $50 for two people.
The service was fine, and I did notice that it seemed to be a great family-friendly place. I just wish I had been more enticed by the food for such a great location.
I guess this place got a good review from the P-I. I'd like to know what they tried that was so good...
