Review content:
I have taken my 2000 Infiniti I30 to Roswell Infiniti since I purchased it with an extended warranty that has expired.
Within a week of spending over $1300.00 for maintenance and repairs I visited the dealership to ask for replacement headlight bulb connectors as I had found burnt and cracked sockets while replacing a headlight bulb.
The repair specialist and the manager of the repair facility explained that I could not purchase the connectors, that they were unique to that model and perhaps that year, and that my only alternative was to purchase a new engine wiring harness for all engine wiring at $2000.00. The manager was certain that no other option was available except a used harness that he suggested I try to find at a junk dealer or reclamation specialist. He expected that to cost $1000.00
I am not knowledgeable about cars but it seemed bizarre that Nissan would create a part that unique to attach a headlight bulb that was standard on 100's of auto models.
I next visited the top rated repair shop in Roswell on Judy's List, Hicks Automotive. Mike Hicks opened the hood, looked at the socket and immediately recommended a simple device for replacing the socket and offered to attach them.
I drove to an Auto Zone a few blocks from Roswell Infiniti and purchased two of the sockets at $5.00 each. They were so commenly purchased that they hung on a peg in the main aisle! I installed them myself in about 3 minutes.
The fact that the manager of Roswell Infiniti repair failed to suggest this solution and, in fact, denied that any such solution existed leads me to two possible explanations:
1) That he was unaware of a simple and commmonly available remedy. A shocking lack of basic automotive knowledge - and extremely unlikely or;
2) He was prepared to prey upon unsophisticated buyers to the point of suggesting a $2000 repair for a $10 problem.
I will never use this dealership again.
