I found Brilliant Earth on the Internet when I was preparing to buy some diamond earrings for my girlfriend, Sarah. The more I learned about the horrors of the diamond industry and the way De Beers treats local populations in countries like Congo, Sierra Leone and even South Africa, I didn’t want to support their practices of child labor, forced migration and trade with warlords. My gift to my girlfriend was one of love, and the diamond jewelry trade traffics in blood and conflict – not something I want to be a part of!! Brilliant Earth is different. They source all of their jewelry from Canada and can actually tell you not only where the jewelry is from, but also, they can guarantee that the people who mined, cut and polished their diamonds were paid a fair wage and weren’t subject to mistreatment (they know this because they have direct control of their supply from the point at which it comes from the ground until the point it’s delivered to the customer (in this case, me). Beyond the good feeling I had from buying from Brilliant Earth, the company’s sales and customer service were first class. I actually returned the first set of earrings they sent me because I decided I wanted something slightly different. The saleswoman on the phone was totally understanding and the return process was surprisingly easy (just like Netflix, I just dropped the earring box back in the mail and that was it). After I made my purchase, the saleswoman, Beth, called me a few days later to make sure I had received the new earrings and that I was totally satisfied. Imagine that! She just wanted to make sure I was happy. I’m very pleased to recommend Brilliant Earth. I will certainly shop with them again.
