Businiess name:  Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Review content:
I am very discouraged by recent events during a rental. In early Jun 2006, my wife was involved in a traffic accident. This traffic accident involved our 7-month-old child. Shortly after the accident, my wife proceeded to Enterprise Rental Car in Waldorf, MD 2724 Crain Hwy, Waldorf, MD 20601 (301) 843-1851to rent a vehicle to temporarily replace ours. She was introduced to “Brett” the manager. While covering the contract, "Brett” indicated that it would be a good idea to purchase "additional insurance” so my wife purchased the insurance. Although the contract clearly states in bold letters on the left side of the contract, Brett did not CLEARLY EXPLAIN exactly what the additional insurance meant or what the insurance is designed for. What he failed to explain or inquire – Would our current insurance provider pay in the event the rental was damaged (YES OUR DOES by the way) – HE never asked, inquired or informed my wife to check with our own insurance before buying theirs. "Brett” merely pointed to the left side of the contract and told her to sign, which she did without reading – yea her fault!! The car was rented for several weeks. The bill to Nationwide Insurance was extensive and paid. Enterprise made money on the rental (3 ½ weeks worth of rental). There is no question that my wife signed the form. However, there is indication and it is my sincere belief that my wife was taken advantage of in this circumstance. Instead of researching further or inquiring whether our insurance would cover the rental, an attempt to recover more money for the rental was made. Less than 18 hours after the accident, my wife’s primary concern was to get a rental so we could get back and forth to work. This was a time sensitive issue and she did not have time to read every line of every page of the contract. I clearly understand that my wife signed the contract. I am fully aware that the contract uses large bold letters concerning the insurance. But this is about doing the “right thing”. I find this action absolutely intolerable and unacceptable. I have rented vehicles from Enterprise in the past and will never rent from your organization again. The car was deplorable. Floor boards filthy. Stunk like cigarettes, had cigarette burns throughout seats & floor. Vehicle had over 35000 miles (time to get rid of this car Enterprise). I was in DC when the shifter would not go out of park which left me there for 2 hours until I finally managed to get it free (into drive). After returning from a work related trip, I returned to find a bill for the additional insurance. I was not thrilled by the $550.00 + bill. I contacted Brett who indicated there was nothing he could do and that it was too late. I then asked for his supervisor, who also indicated there was nothing he could do; I then contacted his supervisor who did not agree that the “right thing to do” is provide a full refund. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS ORGANIZATION!!
