Businiess name:  Omni Charlotte Hotel

Review content:
My friend and I spent the night at this hotel earlier this month. Boy oh boy do I have mixed feelings about this place! For a "ritzier" hotel (I'm usually a Holiday Inn or Best Western kind of person myself), I was really disappointed. First off, the check-in guy was so heavily accented that it was hard to understand what he was trying to say. We asked him if we could check in early. It took him about three minutes of talking (and us barely comprehending him) to give us a "yes" answer. All he had to do was say yes! Secondly, I know hotel chains are touting their beds as the biggest thing these days. The Omni is no exception. Unfortunately, I had a rotten night in my bed. The mattress itself was delightful, but every time I so much as moved an arm or foot, I could hear a sound like paper. I don't know if the sheets and comforter were over-starched or what, but I'm a restless sleeper and every time I moved the bedding would make that crinkle noise and wake me up. I just did not care for it at all. My friend and I decided to have the breakfast buffet in the hotel's restaurant. It was $14, and a Shoney's breakfast would've tasted much better and have been much cheaper. The spread was not good at all, and the sausage gravy looked ... old. We went to the restaurant around 8am, so it's not like we got there as they were ending the breakfast period. Now for the compliments. For an Omni, the room rate was very good--$99. The hotel is located very conveniently downtown, with easy access to those businesses in the city's center. You have to pay for parking, but you have to do that anywhere you stay downtown. I just was not impressed with the Charlotte Omni. Last year, I stayed at the Westin, next to the Convention Center. If I return next year, that's where I'll stay.
