You wonder where Dobie Gillis, Wally Cleaver and all your favorite 1950's and 1960's friends went to have home made burgers, malts, milk shakes, sodas, banana splits and hot fudge sundaes? Why Red Knapp's Dairy Bar on Main Street in Rochester, Michigan of course!
Knapp's Dairy Bar is a Rochester institution which hasn't changed since I first went there in the 1960's. With it's immaculately clean, simple 1950's decor including the original red metal stools at the U-shaped white counters, white walls and black and white tiled floors Knapp's is the same as when I was going to school. Knapp's has always been "the" place to go for the best homemade burgers (buns are made from scratch), soda fountain shakes served to your specifications in the original tall metal milk shake container and a tall milk shake glass. If you want to take a step back down memory lane, share a new memory with your kids or do something romantic with your significant other: Knapp's can't be beat! (Cheeseburger and a shake will set you back about $13 plus tax).
