Review content:
This is a Chow Foods Restaurant, along with the Jitterbug in Wallingford, The Hi-Life in Ballard, the 5-Spot on Queene Anne, Endolyne Joe's in West Seattle, and the Coastal Kitchen on Capitol Hill. The Chow Foods pattern is to create distinct neighborhood restaurants. Atlas Foods is the one in my neighborhood (University Village/Laurelhurst).
The best way to describe the Atlas is to say it's a diverse restaurant. It' s a good place to take the kids for Sunday morning breakfast, it's a good place to have a bloody mary (or three) before a Husky Football game, it's a good place to take out-of-town guests who would have a hard time finding a decent breakfast without your help, it's a good place to go late on a Friday night after a movie to discuss over a dozen cups of coffee.
The menu is diverse too, the dishes rotate into a new theme every few months or so. The standards stay on the menu all of the time.
While I haven't been disappointed in anything on the menu, the crab cakes, fried chicken, mimosas, and scones really stand out.
