If you always wanted to know how the best hot sauce in the world, Tabasco, is made - come on down to the Avery Island and see for yourself. The factory tour is free, you only have to pay a small road/bridge toll, which at the mometnis $1.00. The tour teaches you about the process of the sauce-making as well as the history of the family and the product. It ends at a small "country store", which has a truly fascinating selection of unique merchandise. WHen I visited last time, they actually gave each of us a rather nice cookbook and a small Tabasco bottle for free. If you have more time, do visit the gardens there as well.
