This is another one of those favorites from childhood that is even more fun to visit as an adult! The Burger Barn has been at the same location in Irvine for as long as I can remember.
Their food is cooked fast. The staff is courteous. The prices are reasonable for a drive-in, and the food is absolutely delicious.
For those of you who are ice afficianados, you will be delighted with their tiny crunchy little balls of ice. It's the perfect texture and size.
When I was in labor with one of my daughters, my midwives drove down to the Burger Barn to get me some cups of ice because I was craving it. When they told the staff I had requested it during labor they were given an entire full-sized bag of ice to bring home for me.
That's the kind of small-town treatment that you don't get at a Dairy Queen or other national chain.
