Review content:
There are so many good places to eat in the Amana Colonies but my favorite is The Brick Haus. The meals there are served family style as are other restaurants in Amana and there is no shortage of food when you order a meal. The blue and white checked table cloths remind one of days past. The Brick Haus includes dessert with your entree at no extra cost and believe me the pies are out of this world. I especially like the German fruit pie which is somewhat like pecan pie only with raisins and coconut in the bargain. My favorite meal there is smoked pork chops. The sides come in small bowls and include pickled ham(my favorite) sauerkraut salad, cottage cheese, lettuce salad, corn, beans, potatoes, gravy, and sauerkraut.
As long as I've been going there(over 20 years) one of the highlights is the owner Walter, who though in his 80s is always there with a smile and a welcome hello.
You'll be welcomed by authentic German polka music. This is a great place to take the family.
Located in Main Amana near the Amana Furniture Factory it is easy to find and handy to all the shops that draw crowds of tourist to this small Amana village.
