I lived in the Muskogee area for many years, and, unfortunately, had many experiences with their services. I do not think I ever had a good experience, to tell the truth. I have been spoiled, since moving to the Norman/ OKC area, where their doctors seem to care, and you are usually seen within an hour. Some of my experiences with Muskogee Regional include taking my oldest son there when he was about two. We were right down the street at a business, when he fell and busted his head open. I was a first time mother, and I knew that a child with a head injury should be seen soon. We were at the ER in less than three minutes. We signed in and waited over two hours... the blood had clotted by the time they finally called his name... and they did nothing. Another time, with my other son, he started coughing and sounded very sick one day, it came on suddenly, within an hour or two. I took him to the ER, just being cautious. They grabbed him out of my arms, shoved me to the side, and would not allow me in the room, as they did a spinal tap on him!!! I transferred to Muskogee Regional from a hospital in Tulsa, a couple years ago, because we lived in Muskogee, and I wanted my husband to be there, as they were saying I needed immediate surgery to have my gall bladder removed. I don't really remember anything, but after the surgery, the surgeon made rude comments to my husband telling him the surgery was not necessary, they just did not want me in there "whining" about my stomach problems... I had chronic pancreatitis, and my enzyme levels were at dangerous levels, which was the reason I was admitted in the first place. Anyway, those are just a few of my experiences. When I had pancreatitis, they kept telling me nothing was wrong with me... so I went to Indiana... a week later, where they told me I needed another immediate surgery. Muskogee Regional sees a lot of patients without insurance, or those on Medicaid, and it seems as though they feel their patients don't deserve to be treated with respect, or given thorough testing or treatment. I would strongly recommend, if given the choice, making the drive to Tahlequah or Tulsa, rather than going to Muskogee Regional.
