Review content:
Typical of any B&N chain store, the Erie B&N is like most others. Boasting a nice café to sit and enjoy a cup 'o java (actually a small Starbuck's inside the book store itself) and a set up similar to most other book stores of the same name it does offer a cozy feeling when you walk in. I think it's the wood that brings a cozy ambiance to the shopper.
My favorite part is the very different and somewhat a-typical choices they offer in their music department. You can find Madonna and The Beatles in any music store in Erie but to be able to find some of the very different bands they offer, not typical to the area, is a real treat. I have a love for a lot of Canadian rock, probably stemming from my long-time listening to London's radio across the waters. For this reason, I love the fact that they offer a lot of various artists known well in Canada but not quite so popular here in the states. Big Sugar is an absolute favorite and no matter what store in the city of Erie you look in, you will not find it. Some say they can order it, but who wants to wait for that? B&N had it in stock, along with other Canadian rock bands such as The Tragically Hip.
The book choices are quite adequate and the children's section, downstairs, is very nice and tucked away. They offer some great kids programs throughout the year, including summer reading specials.
While it tends to bring in a touch of yuppyville regulars, there's no reason for the average Joe to feel left out or out of place. Sit back and enjoy a magazine or book while you sip your frappaccino!
The biggest drawback, while some books are slightly discounted, things tend to be a little bit more, but you're a lot more likely to get what you want here. Make this your first stop and you're almost guaranteed to get what you're looking for!
