Businiess name:  Florida Vacation Villas

Review content:
We were surprised at how large our room was at Florida Vacation Villas. I think the whole unit had more space than our house. The place is not real well maintained however. I did not realize it until several trips down the three flights of stairs to my car (there is now elevator) but the door did not lock automatically like every other hotel I have ever stayed at. You have to use your key once you get out to lock the door each time. They only had one key to our room, so if my husband was gone, I couldn't even leave the room to go to the pool with the kids, because I didn't want to leave the room unlocked. I have never seen such a ridiculous system in a hotel. When the doors were shut and locked, you could still see to the outside next to the door jam. Something should be done about these doors to make them safer. The rooms were fairly clean, but we did smash a cockroach while we were there. We know that it is Florida, and that sort of thing can be expected, but I have been staying at hotels in Florida for many years, and this is the first cockroach I have seen. The pool was really nice. There was a jacuzzi as well. The pool says it closes at 10, but there didn't seem to be anyone enforcing that rule. While we were there, my mother tried to call me several times, but the phone was not answered. This was upsetting to me, because my sister was pregnant, and due very soon. I wanted to make sure I could be contacted while I was staying there. I asked the office about it, and they were not sure why the answering system hadn't picked up the call. I tried calling myself, and experienced the same no answer that my mother had. I am not sure I would want to stay at this location again, based on how unsecure the locks on the door were.
