Businiess name:  DEVACHAN HAIR SALON
Review by:  Alison P.
Review content:
Devachan caters to people who have curly hair. I came here after a lifetime of cutting my thick, unruly hair boy-short because I didn't know how to deal with it, or fighting with it every morning when it grew. I had tried every product imagineable. After Devachan I take the Greyhound from Boston to get my hair cut twice a year and then I roll out of bed not having to do anything, literally. They cut hair dry, so they can observe it in its natural sprung-up habitat - curly hair is longer when wet - and then wash it in their own products. Then they do final styling and snipping. They don't push their products but they do explain them. The hairdressers are interested in educating you about your particular hair, and be forewarned, you will come out of here with curls. A friend of mine was horrified to realize that, after a lifetime of blow drying, she actually had Shirley Temple style ringlets. (She still blow dries, but she uses less drying products, and she comes here twice a year, saying she is more into "gentle waves".) My cuts here are so good that I get out of bed, shake my head and everything falls right into place. It is super conditioned so I no longer fear humidity and rain. I get compliments all the time. And I have an easy routine now that works with, not against my hair. I like Ana and Judy especially but just about everyone here is good. Bring pictures if you have ideas, otherwise they are good at working with your face. Very relaxing environment, not snooty or rushed. Allow two hours for your first appointment and book at least one month in advance - they are very much in demand. And be prepared for an entire salon of curlyheaded stylists; it is surreal.
