If you want to check Bonsai out, the Atherton location has a very nice atmosphere. The restaurant is essentially one big room with small dividers located throughout dividing the space and creating a more private feeling. The walls are traditionally decorated surrounding you in an indoor/outdoor feeling room that boasts a small stream of running water along the edge of the restaurant where fish and turtles can be found, and separating the main dining area from the private tatami (traditional rice straw floor/wall) rooms. Near the back of the dining area is an aviary with several small birds. Fun for the children!
