GO TO FRAN!
So it's about 8:30 at night one random evening, and I decide to make a drastic change. I walk into Astor Hair and Fran, though about to leave, graciously agrees to take me in. I had very long, damaged blond hair that I wanted chopped all off into a pixie cut and dyed some kind of brown color. I show her four different photos of the idea (Shannyn Sossoman, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Katie Holmes) and say "something like this that will work on me". She takes one look, and with wit, enthusiasm, smiles and attitude, transforms my hair into something INCREDIBLE. the major cut, style PLUS color was only $75. FAR less than I have ever paid and such a tremendous experience letting her do it- she's so fun and an amazing stylist. bottom line.. GO TO FRAN. I am sooooo beyond happy with what she did for me, with hardly any description from me and nothing but a glance at a photo. she even chose the color of it herself because I had no idea. and it was exactly what it needed to be. she's immensely talented and a joy to sit in the chair for!
plus, she just got back from maternity leave and she needs to support her baby boy :-)
Pros: variety of stylists, affordable, laid-back, quick
Cons: if you want the ambiance of a "salon", then astor isnt 4 u
