I have been to the 40/40 Club in NYC twice before and never had an issue either time. The music was great the crowd was cool and the drinks were awesome. My friend decided to go out to the location in Atlantic City, NJ for her birthday last weekend and what a horror!!! It was the night of the De La Hoya fight and even though the fight was OVER by the time we arrived (11:30pm) we were instructed to pay $20 cover charge. I advised the bouncers that my friend was already having a birthday event and we showed our invitations to get inside. The bouncers said it didn't matter and we had to pay. The bouncer then spoke to another bouncer who advised it would be $10 after 12 so we left and came back at 12 only to be told by the same bouncer that it was $20! We had to go back and forth until FINALLY they let us in for $10! This is a breach in contract because my friend was advised that there is NEVER a cover charge to get inside and also because she had paid in advance for one of their birthday packages that there was to be NO COVER CHARGE FOR GUESTS! Also the quality of people inside was low grade. H00chies and wh0res everywhere. Girls wearing spandex tunics with no underwear bending over and showing their crotch! Once we got upstairs to the ESPN room we one of the staff walked up to my friend to advise her 'Ummm u have 2 hours" and walked out. The woman was rude, coming into the room ever 20 mins to see if we were buying alcohol and food. Mind you there was no one fighting to even be in the VIP area cuz the club wasn't even at capacity! By the end of the night our party had spend over $1,000 in there and this broad was still giving us the side eye! There was one staff member named Rosemary who was very accomodating and nice and made up for all of the negative moments that occurred that night. She deserves a raise and every1 else at this place should be fired! I will never go back and don't recommend it for anyone else EVER! Two stars only because the music was good!
Pros: Great Music and Drinks! Ambience. Rosemary for being friendly, respectful and accomodating
Cons: Misleading information about COVER CHARGE! Rude and unprofessional staff!
