Sat. night my s/o and I had dinner at Ever Which Way. This was not our first visit. The service has always been wonderful, but the servers do not seem familiar enough with the menu. My first trip I had the Vegetarian Thai pasta. I liked it, it had a wonderful flavor, but it was too spicy for me. This time I ordered the same dish but asked if they could make it less spicy. The server said sure, and made a note on the order. My entree was again too spicy. I overheard a table near us also complain (to a manager?) that their entree was too hot/spicy. They mentioned they had even asked their server if the dish would be very spicy and had been told no. She then told them green curry was always spicy, and cannot be made less spicy. It's an all or nothing spice. I wish I had known that when I ordered my dish as well. My pasta also had the green curry spice. Had I known when I ordered the pasta actually cannot be made less spicy I would have ordered another dish instead. The manager very quickly had the kitchen make a different entree for the customer, which was the right thing to do. I have many years experience as a server. While the service here itself was good, it is equally important that the staff be familiar with the menu. Many of the resturants I've worked in had menu meetings to introduce the menu to the staff and they have the opportunity to taste them and ask questions as well as get info about each dish, ie, this is not vegetarian, this dish has MSG, or in this case - green curry is spicy and these dishes with this spice cannot be made less spicy. My s/o had the beef medalions which he said were excellant and I learned, while I'm a big fan of yellow curry, I do not like green curry.
