Where shall I begin.... My wife and I were eager to find a decent Indian restaurant in south Florida after just visiting Austin, Tx and enjoying a fantastic dinner at the Clay-Pot (a local Indian favorite). We researched and decided to try Heelsha. The place is quaint but is located in a neighborhood that is one step above a warzone (we were nervous going to our car parked in the back at night). We braved the "scary" neighborhood and ducked inside. The decor and atmosphere were both nice. It took forever for our appetizer to arrive but it was worth the wait. We had the minced lamb rolls. Tasty, but more onion than my wife liked. It was a long wait (half hour at least) for our main dishes to arrive. We both had lamb and the meat tasted old. We both felt ill after consumption. We focused our attention on the delicious garlic bread only to realize there was a large insect doing laps in the basket. This was enough for us...so we asked for the check (another 20 minutes) and it arrived $20 too expensive (suspicious mathematical error). They corrected the mistake, but there were too many horrors during this visit not to add it to the list. I don't care if the owners of this place used to own the best Indian in Miami. This place stinks....especially the lamb. Pros: Atmosphere (inside) Cons: Insects, Atmosphere (outside), freshness of food, service, shady calculations
