Businiess name:  AMC Star Southfield 20
Review by:  Burton C.
Review content:
In an earlier review, I said that I felt that the Uptown Palladium was the best place to see a movie in this town. Well, runner-up in that contest is the Star Southfield Theater. While it has been open for a few years now, it still feels new, with a big wide-open lobby that always seems to be clean and well-maintained. They have two theaters (#10 and #11) that are enormous, and that have all the latest digital-projector and sound system technologies ... you would be surprised at what a big difference that makes. The rest of the theaters are good, but #10 and #11 are really great. The seats are comfortable, though not outstanding. The only real complaint that I would have about Star Southfield is that the staff there is only polite because they have to be. For example, I was at a preview screening for IceAge2 a month or so ago, that was scheduled to start at 11:00 AM. 11:00 is also the time that the concession stands were supposed to be open. So there were lines all around the place a couple minutes before 11:00, and the people "working" the concession stands were just standing around, not opening, because it wasn't 11:00. But at 11:01, they were like "Hi! Welcome to the Star! Enjoy your movie!" But overall, it's a good place to see a movie.
