Review content:
Walking in to Le Jardin, I had high expectations: the space was intimate, but not cheesy, the staff was extremely friendly, but not overbearing, and I immediately felt at ease. My party was going to be 30 minutes late, and I waited at the bar and chatted with the very friendly bartender, reassured that my reservation would not be given away, despite my friends' tardiness. Indeed, when everyone arrived, we were given a wonderful table and prompt service. The manager was very attentive. The food, however, left much to be desired. The escargot avoided being chewy or slimey, two qualities that have kept many from trying escargot more than once, but it also avoided being flavorful or even interesting. For my main course, I chose the quail, which was dreadfully undercooked. Admittedly, I do not know much about how to cook quail, but after some quick research, it seems that it should always be 'cooked through', while mine (and my friend's) where red in the middle. In defense, it also appears that quail is very easily overcooked. For dessert, my vanilla caramel flan was predictable and poorly presented, with the caramel haphazardly sliding off to one side. Overall, I left Le Jardin with mixed emotions. Pros: Ambience, Service Cons: Value, Quality
