Review content:
My brother lived at this group home for mentally ill adults, which is run by Volunteers of America. He only lived there a few months before moving into public housing. While there needs to be more programs for people with mental illness, this program did not work for him. Granted, mentally ill adults are often difficult to deal with due to the nature of their disease but my mom and I also found this program disappointing. Many of the things that were promised before he moved into this home were not fulfilled. I think a lot of the problem stemmed from the fact that the administrators of the program worked in Tampa, which is about two hours from this area and in a different county. They were almost impossible to get in contact with and seemed like we weren't very important to them.
