I'm a big fan of stand-up comedy, and the one thing that The Parlor does have, is a really good selection of comics, and that's about where the redeeming qualities of this place end.
My friends and I went to go see a comedy show, which was being held in lounge area, where we had to stand in line. The line was fairly long, and it went across the VIP section of what I assumed was the dance club. So, we had to have a lot of waitresses move past us to get into the area. I was expecting them to say, "sorry," or "excuse me," or "pardon." Which I always assumed were basic courtesies. Instead, I actually had one waitress say to me, "move!"
We finally got our table, and we ordered drinks and appetizers. The drinks were horrendously overpriced, and watered down. After ordering my food, the first act comes on stage and does his set. Then the second act comes on stage. I soon realized an hour and a half has passed by, and I still haven't gotten my food. I ask two different waitresses where my food is, and one guy who took some of our empty plates. The gentleman informed me that he wasn't a waiter, and that I should talk to the waitresses. I'm sitting there thinking, 'could you at least run back to the kitchen?'
Eventually, the waitress who was working our table informed me that the kitchen staff had lost my order, and that my food would be complimentary. Granted, this was a nice gesture, but after asking three different people where my food was, what little goodwill I had was now gone.
As many other reviews will attest to, this place has a major aura of pretentiousness about it. Until The Parlor learns how to get over itself, I have no plans of ever returning.
Pros: Good selection of stand-up comedians
Cons: Overpriced watered-down drinks, and lousy customer service!
