Businiess name:  Carter's Supermarket
Review by:  Becky F.
Review content:
Carter's Supermarket isn't much to look at from the outside...it looks like a little country store inside of a little metal building, located in the middle of nowhere (at the intersection of Cockerham and Lockhart Roads in Denham Springs). But you would be surprised how much they fit into the building and at how competitive the prices are, despite the fact that they are a family-owned business in competition with Wal-Mart. Carter's has a small deli area with meats, as well as some pre-cooked food like fried chicken and delicious fried fish, and some cakes and breads. They sell icees. :) They have a small produce area with all the basics, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, bananas, etc. Their meat is great (I've had many bad experiences with Wal-Mart meat but never with Carter's), and their prices are very fair...in fact GREAT when they run a sale. They have a good dairy section and a small but decent frozen food section. All the basics are covered and there's a pretty good selection of them. While some of their items are more expensive than Wal-Mart, I find I save money by shopping at Carter's when I'm making a small- to medium-sized grocery run because you don't have all the distractions of Wal-Mart, not as many non-grocery items to buy on impulse, etc. It's easy to go into Carter's with a list, buy just what you need, and get out. Employees tend to be high school or just out of high school aged, and friendly. They accept cash, checks, credit, and debit cards. They also sell gas. No pay at the pump, though. GREAT (literally) corner grocery store. It's a fast and easy alternative to Wal-Mart!
