Review content:
The Painted Lady tries hard to be authentic but fails on every level. The beautifully decorated rooms are stuffed with every kind of over-priced, faux-Victorian crap you can imagine. Tea is served in charming teapots with teacups, but the water isn't boiling hot, the teas are mostly flavored packets on a string, and you have to ask for milk. My friend and I went for the 'Proper Tea' lunch. I chose the 'tomato bisque' appetizer, and was completely unimpressed with an insipid watery soup - I can just imagine how grand they thought it would be to call it 'bisque' instead of 'soup.' I laughed out loud to see that their website refers to their 'soup d jour' [sic]. The crappy little sandwiches were pretentious crustless affairs with tasteless unseasoned fillings. The cakes were bland and unsubstantial. 'All this' for $14.95 plus tax and tip.... Don't waste your time.
Cons: Expensive, Fake
