Review content:
It’s pricey, it’s hard to get into, but it’s more than worth it. The food, mostly French cuisine (with a little bit of American thrown in for less adventurous eaters), is of only the very top quality, as is the atmosphere: 20’s and 30’s themed, because of the place’s namesake (Josephine Baker), with nightly live piano music and impeccable service. But if you want to go there, plan in advance; it’s the sort of place where you generally need a reservation if you want to eat during the midtown dinner rush (6-9PM), especially on weekends. On weekdays or early weekend evenings, though, you might be able to walk in and get a table. The prices reflect the quality of the food; last time I went, each of the three people in my party ordered an appetizer and a main course, and the bill came to about $130 before tip. But as I said, it’s well worth it, especially for a special occasion. Try their seafood; you won’t believe your taste buds.
