I took my eight year old son, Walter, who we affectionately call a carbotarian, to see Brian. He had one session with him and he agreed to try a new food every two weeks. The first thing was not his idea and it was not planned. He got a bagel and I suggested he try a bite with cream cheese on it. He doesn't eat cheese, but he did end up eating the bite and declaring that he didn't like it, which is to be expected. They key is that he tried it! His original idea was to try cheese cake, so we went to the Cheesecake Factory. We cheated and made it Oreo cheese cake, so it was a given that he'd eat it. He said he didn't like it, but it was a huge piece and he almost finished all of it. The best thing that has happened so far though came from him. He opened the refrigerator the other day and pulled out the strawberry lemonade, which his sister, Victoria, likes. He kind of shrugged his shoulders and said in a very nonchalant way, "Hmm, think I'll see how this tastes." and he took a swig and liked it. I was just so happy to see him take the initiative and I credit Brian with that. Brian connected with Walter in such a way, that he got him to agree to at least try new foods. It is making a difference and I think we are on the other side of the fence now with it. The steps he takes next will be over time, and that is fine. I can't tell you how grateful I am to Brian. He is a wizard with reaching hard to reach people and is so genuine about it. A gem of a person and a whiz at affecting personal growth and positive change. I have a tremendous amount of respect for his intellect, knowledge, and loving heart. Annabelle.
