Review content:
My wife was hired as a social worker in Pembroke Psychiatric Hospital. She loved the work and she worked tirelessly even though it was an hour commute each way. She loved the team and the team loved her. Her boss, Jenny, gave her an excellent review just 2 weeks ago stating that she performed all her duties and tasks to the tee. We are religious Jews and we observe the Shabbat, so sundown, Friday, she must already be home. She made up for it by waking every Friday morning before the sun and getting to work early to finish all her work on time. Jenn, her boss, asked about this, but after my wife informed her that she arrives early, she was satisfied. Additionally, she is 8 months pregnant with our child. She had been working at Pembroke for the past 6 months, 3 months as a temp, and in 2 weeks she would have completed her probationary time as an employee. We scheduled a 3-day vacation and initially, Jenny said no, but then after speaking with my wife, gave the OK. Last Friday, my wife reminds Jenny that she will be missing 3 days next week and suddenly Jenny flows into a rage and summons her to her office. She is duly informed that she is dismissed from her job due to a bad fit. A week ago she was an exemplary employee at an understaffed hospital and now she does not fit the position. Thanks, Jenny! An eight-month pregnant woman now has to go job hunting, after donating sweat and blood for your ward. Obviously, Jenny said nothing about my wife being Jewish and leaving early on Friday, nor about the maternity leave she will soon take, but Jenny, I hope you sleep well knowing you fired an incredible pregnant Jewish employee. Your managerial skills are subpar and Pembroke Hospital should consider placing someone more qualified in your stead.
