Review content:
I would give this facility a zero if possible. If you do not stay on top of the staff and your family member's care, you will be in for a world of trouble and disappointment. This facility came highly recommended for my father after an 11 day stay at Danbury Hospital. The nursing staff keeps the clients waiting constantly. They also NEVER had my dad ready for his occupational and physical therapy appointments. Despite numerous attempts, I was never able to speak to my father's case worker until I called one day from my dad's room phone(you cannot get service with your cell phone at this facility) and she said she wanted to speak to me about discharge for my dad. When we finally met, she (Cindy Fields) seemed to know almost nothing about his care. My father had not been eating at ALL even with me bringing food from home and he was still having embarrassing bathroom accidents that impaired his therapy appointments. and his case worker knew none of this. She also did not know he had a catheter in place that was still to be addressed medically on the very day he was to be discharged. We had no idea if my dad was going to be able to have the catheter removed or have a permanent catheter instead. She also never addressed my phone concerns about living alone and having to go up stairs to enter his home. My father had still not been cleared to walk alone with his walker at this time but he was expected to cook and clean for himself with very little help from outside sources. No home or family evaluation was ever conducted via interviews or home visits. My father was frequently in the same clothing for 3 or more days in a row. He was only changed when he had an accident. I made sure he had plenty of clean clothes available at all times and spent 3 hours every day with him. I feel this facility was just setting my father up to fail. I can only hope he will not deteriorate at home. I will do MY best to make sure that does not happen- only wish Bethel rehab had done their best to ensure his success.
