Mimi was a patient of Dr Mayland. She became what would seem suddenly ill. After taking her to Dr Mayland he diagnosed a possible neurological disorder. Being that Mimi had been adopted as an adult cat we were not sure of her age but due to her condition determined she was older than we previously thought. Dr Mayland ran several tests to rule out other possible conditions. Within a few days she began to deteriorate very quickly. I spoke with Dr Mayland and he let me know that the results had just come in and that his original diagnosis would appear to be correct. There was not anything we could do for my beautiful little girl. Her quality of life had deteriorated so that Dr Mayland being a true advocate for pets suggested the kindest and most loving thing we could do for Mimi was to put her to sleep as she was no longer able to walk, eat or control her bodily functions. When I brought Mimi into the hospital later that afternoon the staff said goodbye to my precious little girl. Dr Mayland stayed with me until Mimi left us.... His presence made her passing more bearable. A week later I received a card from the ASPCA of Westchester letting me know that Cross River Animal Hospital had made a generous contribution in Mimi's name. Over the years I have had pets and have taken them to veterinary hospitals where I have lived, however, I have never come across a pet hospital like Cross River Animal Hospital. The talent, love, compassion and genuine care that Dr Mayland and his staff provide can not be unsurpassed. Everyday I think of my beautiful little girl Mimi and take comfort in knowing that at the end of her life she was surrounded by love....... Thank you Dr Mayland for all you kindness and generosity. You are an outstanding Doctor, a wonderful person and surely a credit to your profession.
