I signed up for a free in-home demo with the promise of a small gift certificate at a local Home Depot. John, the Rainsoft rep we dealt with, was punctual, polite, and low pressure. The demo does take a bit longer than the hour they suggest, but that was at least partially due to us being a bit chatty.
The equipment they sell is pricey, but in the month of using what we bought, has proven effective. The "cleanstart" ozone-based laundry device does, in-fact, clean laundry without needing detergent (though some stains don't come out without pre-treating, this was disclosed up-front before purchase as a small limitation).
As with anything, do your research on the technology before purchasing. 4 stars only on account of initial pricing of the equipment being high.
