Review content:
When my adult daughter received a Notice of Cessation from Social Security, we were frantic. I knew we needed the help of a disability lawyer. I called 15 disability attorneys in the Raleigh area, and Michael Bertics was the only lawyer who would take a Notice of Cessation case. From the onset, Mr. Bertics was compassionate and helpful. Once all the medical reports were obtained, he advised me of the problem areas in the current medical reports and the DDSs psychologist report and outlined what I needed to do and how he would fix things. Plus, he advised we get a psychiatrist instead of a nurse practitioner and switch providers. All around, Mr. Bertics was upfront – it was a difficult case.
The only reason why she was treating with this provider under a nurse practitioner was because we couldn’t find any psychiatrists who took Medicare/Medicaid. Through persistence, we finally found one that did. Plus, he advised me of his legal theory and strategy to have the decision overturned. Mr. Bertics prepped both myself and my daughter for testimony at the reconsideration hearing at Social Security. We just received notice that the hearing officer decided she was disabled and benefits would continue. Keep in mind that only 10 percent of cases get overturned at this hearing level. We were fortunate to have Mr. Bertics as our disability attorney. If you’re having trouble with your disability claim, I highly recommend seeking the legal expertise of Mr. Bertics.
